Doddington Hall & Gardens, Doddington, Lincolnshire

Currents events now updated for 2017!
The Hall
Begun in 1595 by Robert Smythson, one of England’s foremost Elizabethan Architects, Doddington Hall was completed in 1600 and has never been sold or cleared out since. Doddington is still a lived-in and much loved family home, alive with history and interest.
Over 400 years of unbroken family occupation has resulted in fascinating collections of furniture, weaponry, paintings, ceramics, textiles, household objects, porcelain and a wealth of amusing stories all to be found in and around Doddington Hall.
A visit to Doddington offers a unique insight into family life through the ages and the challenges of looking after such an estate in the 21st century.
The Gardens
For many, the gardens at Doddington are just as spectacular as the Hall itself. Remaining faithful to the original Elizabethan layout, mellow walls provide the framework for the formal East Front and West Gardens. Beyond the West Gardens begin the lovingly restored Wild Gardens. Over the generations, most recently by Antony and Victoria Jarvis and Claire and James Birch, the gardens at Doddington have been restored, cared for, nurtured and developed to their fullest potential.
The Cafe
Delicious breakfasts are served seven days a week; from 9am (10am Sunday) to 11am (reservation not necessary). Perfect for an early meeting with friends, a midweek treat, a leisurely start to the weekend or simply just Sunday 'time out' with a newspaper. As well as the Full Lincolnshire Breakfast with toast and preserves, there is a choice of mushrooms or free-range eggs on toast as well as delicious sausage or bacon sandwiches or toast with marmalade or jam, smoked salmon & scrambled eggs.
For lunch our café offers simple, homemade dishes cooked to order. Ranging from our famous fish and chips to delicious filled baguettes, our chefs provide a choice of substantial meals and lighter options for those with a smaller appetite.
The Farm Shop
Opened in 2007, Doddington’s award-winning Farm Shop was borne out of a passion for good quality, seasonal, local food. You’ll find fruit and vegetables with zero food miles freshly picked from our fabulous Kitchen Garden (back in production after a 50 year absence), Beef in the Butchery is often from Doddington’s own herd of Lincolnshire Red Cattle along with an abundance of other produce from local suppliers.
