The Pods Leisure Centre, Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire

The Pods is a busy and friendly leisure centre based in Scunthorpe with a wide range of modern facilities.

The exterior is akin to something from a science fiction show but inside normality is resumed and it benefits from swimming pools, a state of the art gym, a dance studio, a cafe and a creche.

The project was developed with a concern for the environment so it features a grey water recycling, a bio-mass boiler, and the roof is part covered with the sedum plants.

There is also a park and children’s play areas outside.
