Spirit Of Sutterby, Sutterby, Lincolnshire

Spirit of Sutterby is a community project organised under the umbrella of the Down Your Wold project.

The primary goals are to explore the hamlet of Sutterby, researching its past and recording its present and to help with its future.

Lost in a fold of the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds, close by to Langton-by-Spilsby and Harrington, the hamlet boasts a small church, a very overgrown churchyard and a handful of houses.

But what used to be there?

Spirit of Sutterby know it is a deserted medieval village with the humps and bumps to prove it - there are a lot of archival records holding key information to the village's past.

Friends of Friendless Churches is a very small charity which saves redundant historic churches. They own over 40 former places of worship, including St. John The Baptist church, here at Sutterby, which they preserve as peaceful spaces for visitors and the local community to enjoy.
