Bourne Castle, Bourne, Lincolnshire
Bourne Castle was a medieval motte and double bailey castle. The enclosed mound, inner and outer moats are all that now survive.
A motte was a type of castle which used an artificial mound to hold a defensible structure or keep on it's summit.
