Carre's Hospital, Sleaford, Lincolnshire

Quite often, the first time a visitor to Sleaford will spot Carre's Hospital will be from sitting at the traffic lights and wondering what that splendid looking building is.
Situated on the corner of Eastgate and Carre Street, opposite the wonderful St Deny's Church, it was founded by Sir Robert Carre in 1636. It is a group of grey-stone almhouses which was to house and support twelve local men (eighteen in later years).
Today, it still provides the same service as centuries before and, because of this, is not open to the general public.
