Holy Trinity Church, Tattershall, Lincolnshire

Tattershall is a village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of the county. At its eastern end is the village of Coningsby.

The splendid medieval Church of the Holy Trinity was completed at the onset of the 16th century, having been endowed with Collegiate status, in the previous century, by King Henry VI, which means it has attached to it a Chapter of canons and prebendaries.

This allowed the original building to be levelled and the Collegiate Church to be built. Ten acres of land, with orchards and gardens, were given on to build mansion-houses and buildings for the Master, the six Chaplains, the clerks, choristers, and the servants.

The church is renowned for its size, fine and detailed medieval stained glass, a striking collection of brasses and its intact rood loft. It was restored several times in the late 19th century.
